With talk of a potential economic slowdown in 2008 and people concerned by rising costs a local independent financial advisor has been challenged to save Cornwall £1 million.

Truro and Wadebridge based Worlwide Financial Planning had the gauntlet thrown down to them by Pirate FM's breakfast presenter, Bob McCreadie, live on air on Monday 21 January.
The move comes after the Citizens Advice Bureau urged IFAs across the country provide free 30 minutes Generic Financial Advice consultations to people with concerns about money.
And never one to turn down a challenge, Worldwide's managing director, Peter McGahan, accepted.
"Theres been a lot of talk in the media lately about money getting tighter, which is why Citizens Advice is enlisting the help of IFAs" said Peter.
"With some careful planning people can save money, so my team of award winning advisers and myself will be looking at mortgages, loans and credit cards and advising people where they could experience beneficial cuts."

On hand to help with the challenge will be a team from Worldwide including Jeff Lenihan, Donna Hansen, Robert Stancliffe, Robert Haymes, Ronan Marrion and Chris Rowe.
And if Peter fails to meet the challenge, Peter will have to put his hand in his own pocket and donate £500 to the Pirate Trust.
"I bet Peter £500 that he would be unable to meet the challenge," said Bob.
"And even if he wins I'd still like to see him hand over £500 for the Pirate Trust!"
