The services of a Cornish businessman are in high demand after he was approached by the BBC, Tiscali and Yahoo to share his financial knowledge online.

Worldwide Financial Planning’s managing director, Peter McGahan, has been called upon by the broadcast, broadband and telephone media companies to provide regular expert advice on all financial matters.

This follows a long list of requests as Peter already writes for the Financial Times and the Channel 4 website, as well as Cornish media. He has also made appearances on Working Lunch and the Today programme.

But with concern growing over personal finance, consumers have been flooding personal finance experts with financial questions.

As well as providing mortgage tips on the BBC, Tiscali and Yahoo have bagged the independent financial adviser to answer questions posed by users.

“I’m thrilled to be involved with these three organisations. It’s an honour to be in such demand,” said Peter.

“At Worldwide we pride ourselves on offering proficient and independent advice, and in the current economic climate this is what people need and deserve.

According to Peter, many people are trying to remortgage after finding their interest rates increased dramatically when coming off a fixed term mortgage.

“A great deal of people had good short-term fixed rate mortgages, but with those coming to an end people have suddenly found that the new rates they are being offered are much higher,” added Peter.

“In some cases way more than people can afford each month.

“And with lenders having less money to lend and now dealing with quality rather than quantity, its important you offer them a neat and tidy proposition.

“It’s a difficult time but contrary to belief banks are more than willing to lend to the right people and our advice can lead people in the right direction.

“We’ve been helping people in Cornwall for 10 years now, but to share our knowledge on a larger scale through the internet is really exciting.”
