Party til the cows come home
4 September 2009
Four of Jack’s Cows will be milking their last night of freedom with a party to say goodbye before heading for the auction house.
Taking place at Vertigo from 4pm to 9pm on Friday, September 11, the cowboy and cowgirl themed party will be a chance for people to party til the cows go home to get ready for the Truro Carnival.
The heifers – Worldwide Financial Planning’s Scilly Cow, Avant Garde Jewellery’s Metalsmoo, King Harry Ferry’s Blue Lady and the Hall for Cornwall’s People’s Cow – will be taking over the St Mary’s Street bar for a night of bovine fun.
Peter McGahan, managing director of independent financial advisers, Worldwide Financial Planning, said: “We’ve had a lot of fun sponsoring Jack’s Cows and we’ve had a lot of good feedback about our Scilly Cow.
“We thought having a cow-themed farewell party would be a great ending before they head for auction.
“It will be great to see the four of them propping up the bar!”
King Harry Ferry’s Toby Budd, said: “Blue Lady has certainly caused a stir with her webcam.
“People have been standing in front of her wherever she’s been to get their picture taken and then try and spot themselves on our site – www.kingharryscornwall.co.uk/cowcam.
“With a bit of luck we can connect cowcam up to Vertigo’s Wifi and get Blue Lady snapping away.”
Diddy Reeve, owner of Avant Garde Jewellery in Pydar Mews, said: “It’s going to be a great event and there’s a lot of fun to be had with the cow theme.
“We could maybe have milk based cocktails, or Moogeritas, Mootinis, Bullinis, Moo Moos, Pina Cowladas...and Blue Ladies of course!”
After taking part in Truro Carnival the cows will be auctioned at HfC on September 13, with all profits going towards HfC’s Loved to Bits campaign, which exists to keep the theatre up and running.
HfC’s development officer Hannah Beech is managing the Jack’s Cows Project. She said: "The response to Jack's Cows has been amazing - everyone seems to love
our herd!
“Over 1250 people have signed The People's Cow, so she's really a symbol of Cornwall's sense of fun and creativity."
