Stress Busting Seminar
18 January 2008
Over half a million people in Britain believe stress from their job is making them ill, according to a recent survey of self-reported work-related illness.
The investigation, carried out by the Health and Safety Executive, also found that self reported work related stress, anxiety or depression, accounts for an estimated 13.8 million lost working days per year in Britain.
To counteract this issue, and promote well-being at work, Worldwide Financial Planning is holding a stress management seminar.
Taking place on Thursday 21 February, between 1-5pm at the Alverton Manor, Truro, the seminar will see the return of health psychologist John Perry, who led last year’s extremely popular stress management session.
Peter McGahan, managing director of the FT award winning firm, said: “This year John will delve deeper into the psychology of stress.
“Work and pressure generally go hand in hand, which has its pros and cons.
“Stress can get the adrenaline pumping and help motivate us when challenges come our way, but too much over a prolonged period can be overwhelming and detrimental to our work performance and more importantly our health and how we see life.
“It’s important that both employers and employees understand how they can manage their physical and mental health.”
This year John will be focusing on stress and the psychosomatic model of ill health, the psychology of you and your organisation, finding out how you can protect and defend yourself and your organisation from stress, NLP and how to communicate with precision and the Human Givens approach to thriving in 2008.
Also speaking at the seminar will be Cheryl Warren, a qualified nutritional therapist, who will uncover the basics about food and how it affects your working effectiveness and stress levels during the day.
Cheryl will be answering questions including why some foods bloat you, should different people eat different foods, should certain foods be eaten at different times and how does food reduce stress and create energy.
A donation of £25 per person is asked for, as all money raised will go towards Macmillan Cancer Support.
To book a place on the seminar, please call Jessica Bartlett at Worldwide Financial Planning on 01208 816 667, or email her on jbartlett@wwfp.net.
