The company behind Truro’s Business Improvement District has secured its first corporate sponsor for Christmas events.

Totally Truro has formed a partnership with Worldwide Financial Planning, a firm of independent financial advisors based on Lemon Street.

It is the first time Totally Truro has offered sponsorship of its events programme, with plans to secure further corporate partnerships in years to come.

Christmas events represent the largest annual investment for Totally Truro, which includes the city’s festive light displays, late night shopping events, and marketing and promotions campaigns.

Sponsorship is an important step in ensuring that events in Truro can continue to grow in their breadth and ambitions beyond the existing, but fixed, funds generated through the BID.

Neil Scott, BID manager, said: “This is a big step in the right direction for the development of the BID. We are laying the foundations to ensure all the great projects we’re delivering have a sustainable future.

“Worldwide Financial Planning is the ideal brand to have on board. They share our commitment to making things happen in Truro and in Cornwall.”

Peter McGahan, managing director for Worldwide, said: “We’re delighted to be the first commercial sponsor of Christmas events in Truro.

“Corporate social responsibility is the current buzz phrase but we think long and hard before we sponsor a project or event.

“It takes something extraordinary to catch our attention, and that something extraordinary is alive and kicking in Truro. It will be magical.”

Christmas in Truro will kick off with the light switch on and the City of Lights Parade on Wednesday, November 18. Late night Christmas shopping will then take place from Wednesday, November 26, launched in partnership with Mallett’s reindeer parade.

This year’s Christmas shopping & leisure guide will soon be hitting the streets, available to pick up at Truro Tourist Information Centre. For more information, go to www.enjoytruro.co.uk
