The 15th to the 19th August 2011 has been the first ‘Be Active Truro’ Festival, a festival all about sport and finding a sport that suits you, maybe one you’ve never even tried before.
Part of the festival was a corporate sports day, with a team from Worldwide Financial Planning invited to take part alongside Coodes Solicitors, MPad,the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Truro along with two teams from the parks and gardens department and Cornwall Students.
Representing Worldwide were Becky Bendle from our commercial department, Jeannie Cain and Kelly Oliver from our Truro Reception Desk and independent financial adviser Nick McBreen.
The fab four took part in a variety of traditional school sports day races, including a relay, egg and spoon as well as something less traditional – the dance mat ‘Dance Off’! Becky, by all reports, ran ‘like a gazelle’ to win the relay race, with MPad a close second.
The Mayor of Truro, Rob Nolan, lost the three-legged race due to an unfortunate equipment failure – reports agree that he was a good loser, especially when Jeannie Cain allowed him to hold, for just a moment, the winner’s trophy.
Well done to all!
Be Active Truro is part of a wider initiative called Get Active Cornwall – encouraging everyone to do more exercise. The event was in partnership with Truro City Council, Event Cornwall, Cornwall Sports Partnership and Totally Truro Business Improvement.
